Women in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia should unite under the slogan “No to War”, says Belgian Senator.

At the “Women’s Role in Conflict Resolution” conference held in Yerevan Dominique Tilmans said mothers of both countries suffered much pain due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict but many women are ready to overcome the pain and sufferings of war to start a constructive dialogue for the sake of peace, prosperity and regional economic development.

Tillmans said that the goal of their program is to bring together women from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia to influence the political side of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through joint efforts.  “A meeting with the participation of women from the three regional states has been recently held in Geneva. First they faced difficulties due to stereotypes, but slowly this barrier has been overcome,” she said.

According to Tillmans, she is funding the project herself with moral support of the UN and the European Commissioner for Human Rights.
