The Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian presidential statement should not be overestimated, the political scientist Alexander Islandaryan told journalists.
He stressed the statement is progress for the Armenian side – Azerbaijan agreed to sign it under the OSCE Minsk Group’s pressure. “On the other hand, there can be no guarantee the document will be honored, as the previous documents have not been either,” the expert said. As to Azerbaijan withdrawing its snipers from the line of contact, Iskandaryan said that the task is most difficult to accomplish, as snipers are Baku’s only “instrument” for blackmailing the international community. “However, the international community intends to resolve the problem,” Iskandaryan said.
