The demands made by the Armenian National Congress (ANC) are evidence it has changed its tactics, Styopa Safaryan, Chairman of the Heritage parliamentary faction, told journalists on March 9. According to him, the ANC making demands and stating its readiness for a dialogue, provided most of them are satisfied, proves the ANC has softened its position.

On the other hand, the ANC demands a number of resignations as well as proposes negotiating early elections. “The points create a kind of stalemate,” Safaryan said.

Hamlet Harutyunyan, member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), pointed out that the Opposition always has fair demands “in store.” However, it should not put them forward in term of ultimatums. The Armenian authorities must solve the problems arousing public concern irrespective of which of the opposition forces raises the problems. “I think the problems will be resolved by means of dialogue,” Harutyunyan said.
