Armenia's legislation allows one to be a fake, but it prohibits one from making calls for racism and violence. This is what political technologist Karen Kocharyan said during an April 12 press conference.

“Be it in virtual space, in real life, in the media or on air, if a person makes calls for racism or violence, which is prohibited by law, law-enforcement authorities have to fight against that, regardless of whether the person is a fake or not,” Kocharyan said.

According to him, there are different fake pages on the Internet that don’t commit any criminal act.

A couple of days ago, Director of the National Security Service of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan declared that the creator of the page “Courageous Armenia Open Society” (Dukhov Haiastan Bats Hasarakutyun) was arrested on the sidelines of the criminal case instituted under the elements of instilling racial, religious and national hatred.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am had reported that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had assigned the director of the National Security Service to deal with the “fakes” during the government’s April 4 session.
