The EU office in Azerbaijan is concerned at the arrests of young activists, says the statement issued by EU representation in Baku.

The document also calls on the Azerbaijani side to hold a fair process regarding the arrested activists, to support cooperation with OCSE in democracy and human rights, RIA Novosti reports.

It mentions the EU representation is closely monitoring the state of democracy and human rights in Azerbaijan.

The EU representation encourages Azerbaijan to maintain an open dialogue with the members of civil society organizations expressing views and opinions in a peaceful manner.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Azerbaijani youth activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, one of the creators of “March 11 – Greta People’s Day in Azerbaijan” page on Facebook, was arrested in the Azerbaijani city of Ganja.
