Provocations on the line of contact between the armed forces are Azerbaijan`s visiting card, Alexander Markarov, Director of the Armenian branch, CIS Institute, told journalists March 11.

During the last two years, just before and after the talks, Azerbaijan has carried out provocations on the line of contact. The Armenian soldier`s murder, as well as official Baku`s claim about the Azeri child`s murder by Armenians, is one more provocation. "The domestic struggle for power may account for such behavior. That is, it is the means of retaining power for the Aliyevs," Markarov said.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that an Armenian soldier, 19-year-old Artur Agababyan, was killed by the enemy on the line of contact between the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces, March 10. The incident occurred near the village of Kuropatkino, at 6:20 p.m. local time.

The provocation took place just a day after the OSCE monitoring in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
