Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan discussed on Friday issues on participation of the Armenian units in the NATO-led multinational operations in Afghanistan.

Minister Ohanyan held meetings with Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe Admiral J. Stavridis and the Commander of Afghanistan International Security Assistance Forces, Army General D. Petreus, as well as Georgian and Polish defense ministers.

Speaking at the NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels, Ohanyan said he is optimistic about NATO’s future activities in Afghanistan, stressing importance of the continuous cooperation of 48 members states in their efforts to ensure security in Afghanistan, ministry’s press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. The Armenian Minister also underlined necessity of cautious and smooth transfer of responsibility from multinational forces in Afghanistan to Afghan national security forces.
