Ungrounded and senseless criticism of the authorities is not the best way the Heritage Party has chosen to remind the people of itself, Eduard Sharmazanov, Secretary of the Republican Party of Armenia, told Armenian News-NEWS.am as he commented on the Heritage Party`s statement that contains more than 20 points.

"Better results can be achieved by means of a correct political struggle. The Heritage Party`s style reminds me of Ivan Krylov`s fable `The elephant and the pug-dog`," Sharmazanov said.

As to the Opposition`s possible consolidation in the form of an alliance by the Heritage party and the Armenian National Congress (ANC), Sharmazanov said that a strong and united Opposition will only improve the country`s political arena, which is to the authorities` benefit.

The Heritage Party`s statement contains a demands for government reshuffle, official recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), withdrawal of the Armenian-Turkish protocols from the Armenian Parliament`s long-term agenda and structural economic reforms. The party was also critical of President Serzh Sargsyan for "mixing his powers as President and party leader, as well as for creating a critical situation in the political arena by announcing himself a de-facto presidential candidate in the 2013 presidential election."
