Judge Zaruhi Nakhshkaryan of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction demands that the Union of Judges issue a statement condemning the criminal prosecution against Judge Davit Grigoryan.
She particularly wrote the following on her Facebook page:
“1. I demand that the Council of the Union of Judges of Armenia convene a session to issue a statement condemning the criminal prosecution against Judge Davit Grigoryan.
2. I demand supplementing the agenda of the General Assembly of Judges for August 16, 2019 with the following item: to consider the inadmissibility and prevention of interference in the independence of courts, the inaction of the Supreme Judicial Council as the guarantor of the independence of courts and the paths to solve the issue”.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am had reported that Judge Davit Grigoryan, who had released second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, is charged with committing an act under Article 314 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, that is, official forgery. The judge doesn’t accept the charge and informs that it is directly liked to his professional activities.
