London police spent about 3.5 million pounds on security during the visit of US President Donald Trump to the UK in June, The Guardian reported.
The police spent 3.4 million pounds in total. During the three-day visit of the US leader to London, 6.3 thousand police officers participated in ensuring security and about 3.4 thousand of them were involved on June 4, when the largest protest action took place during Trump's visit to the city.
Trump visited the UK in early June. During the visit, which was ceremonial, the American leader held talks with UK Prime Minister Theresa May and was received by Queen Elizabeth II. On the second day, Trump was in the UK and several thousand people marched in the center of London in protest against the state visit of the American president. The organizers stated that they intend to gather over 250 thousand people for protests, however, according to the statements of the participants and the police standing in the cordon, tens of thousands of people took part in the march called a “carnival of resistance”
