YEREVAN. – Between August 31 and September 9, a total of 46 cases of alcohol (methanol) poisoning were registered in Armenia, 18 of which resulted in death, according to the Ministry of Health.

During the aforesaid period, 28 alcohol poisoning victims received treatment in the country, and 22 of them were discharged after receiving treatment—but four of them had become blind.

Five patients are still receiving treatment.

A total of 28 of the reported cases had used vodka which they had bought from Armavir town resident Ashot Hovsepyan, who, in turn, had bought it from a resident of Janfida village. Nine others had used medical alcohol bought from pharmacies, whereas none others had used different types of vodka.
