As of August 17, two cases of COVID-19 were registered among persons in the penitentiaries of Armenia. The public observers’ team overseeing the country’s penitentiaries and respective agencies informed about this in a statement.

Moreover, in both cases the infected were inmates.

Also 347 coronavirus tests were conducted among the employees of Armenia’s penitentiary system, and COVID-19 was detected in 71 of them. As of August 17, the number of recovered persons of penitentiaries was 63, and eight people are receiving treatment.
