The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia believes there is a serious need for strengthening of the education system. This is what Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Vahram Dumanyan said during today’s parliamentary hearings over “Science as a Pillar for Security and Development”.

According to him, there is a need for wide use  of the education system (general education and higher education). “Higher education can’t be quality higher education without an appropriate system of general education, and there can’t be science without higher education. The economy can’t be developed without science and higher education,” Dumanyan stated and admitted that Armenia currently faces a major problem with regeneration of specialists with higher education and motivation.

In his turn, Chairman of the State Committee of Science of Armenia Sargis Hayotsyan stressed the appointment of youth to leading positions in science for solutions to the specified issues and particularly called everyone’s attention to the fact that 48.3% of scientists in Armenia are over the age of 65.
