Former Democratic presidential nominee Pete Buttigieg has been appointed US transportation secretary - becoming the first openly gay minister in the country's history, The Guardian reported.
“I’m honored and humbled by today’s vote in the Senate and ready to get to work,” Buttigieg tweeted
Buttigieg was approved on an 86-13 vote.
