As of March 17, Armenia will have a new customs attaché in Brussels, who will represent the country’s interests in the customs sector before the European Union (EU) and the World Customs Organization.

The term of office of the new customs attaché appointed by the decision of Armenia’s prime minister is three years; but according to the charter of the attaché, this tenure can be extended for another year.

Suren Melik-Israyelyan—head of the International Cooperation Department of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia—, who will soon assume this post of customs attaché, says that additional instructions have been given to give a new impetus to the institute of customs attaché.

Active work is planned to be carried out with international organizations located in Brussels, in order to maintain the high standing of Armenia’s customs service.
