With his impeachment trial set to begin this week, a narrow majority of Americans say they support the Senate convicting former President Donald Trump and barring him from holding federal office again, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday, ABC News reported.

In this latest poll, 56% of Americans say Trump should be convicted and barred from holding office again, and 43% say he should not be. The rest did not respond.

Also, 25% of Americans say they think there are more radical extremists in the Democratic Party than in the Republican Party, but 42% of Americans say the opposite; another 32% say they think there are about the same amount of extremists within both political parties.

Furthermore, 67% of Americans said they approve of the way new US President Joe Biden is handling the response to the coronavirus, whereas 32% disapproved.

This poll was conducted on February 5 to 6, and among a random US national sample of 508 adults.
