YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Before sending the draft Electoral Code [(EC)] to the Venice Commission, last week, on February 18, the government organized a discussion at the Ararat Resort hotel in Tsakhkadzor, trying to show that there is a political consensus on the draft.

However, the largest opposition in the NA [National Assembly], the PAP [the Prosperous Armenia Party], as well as the influential extra-parliamentary forces did not participate in the discussion.

According to our source, those who do not see a problem in holding snap [parliamentary] elections under the premiership of Nikol Pashinyan were present.

"First, there were no preconditions for the invitation, the process started since the spring of 2019, now it has reached the final stage. Second, whoever said such a thing made nonsense," said BAP [opposition Bright Armenia Party] MP Gevorg Gorgisyan. The latter was also present at the gathering.

[Ruling bloc] My Step MP Hamazasp Danielyan informed his colleagues about the amendments made in the EC.
