YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Certain groupings-rearrangements are taking place in the opposition arena. Most likely, several blocs will be formed ahead of the upcoming [snap parliamentary] elections.
Although no one still knows when these elections will take place, they may be announced very unexpectedly, and the political forces may not be ready for it, as, by and large, happened in 2018.
From the 17 [opposition] parties, probably the Armenian Revolutionary Federation [(ARF) Party], Artur Vanetsyan's Homeland Party, and the [ex-President Robert] Kocharyan wing will go on a journey together. Moreover, the ARF, as a traditional and institutional party, claims a more dominant role. However, as a rule, the partners do not come to an agreement when compiling a [electoral] list, and the possible alliance is disbanded, not yet formed.
The [former ruling] Republican [Party of Armenia] and the PAP [Prosperous Armenia Party] consider themselves the most established forces with extensive electoral experience, so they tend to go it alone.
Among the others, [ex-PM] Hrant Bagratyan has more or less chances to unite with several small parties.
Another bloc can be formed from active pro-Russian forces, which support the idea of forming a new USSR.
In any case, it is already clear that there will be a large number of participants with small votes in the upcoming elections, and a clear leader and majority will not be formed.
