It is necessary to lay the foundations for the return of migrants to their homeland. This is what Governor of Tavush Province of Armenia Hayk Chobanyan said during today’s discussion on the European Union’s “Empowerment of Local Role-players for Development” Program.

Chobanyan attached importance to the EU’s development program targeted at the development of human potential and added that one of the features of the EU Program is that there is a strategic approach, and this is one of the major problems in the local self-governance system in Armenia.

Governor of Shirak Province Hovhannes Harutyunyan also attached importance to the interest in participating in the Program, taking into consideration the serious potential for development of tourism, agriculture, information technologies, as well as small and medium-sized businesses.

Governor of Lori Province Aram Khachatryan also mentioned the importance of the Program in terms of the development of agriculture, tourism and light industry and voiced hope that the locals would show active participation, which will serve as another incentive for Armenian migrants to return to Armenia.
