YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: According to Zhoghovurd daily’s information, a wave of dissatisfaction has risen among many judges operating in Armenia, which is due to the factual inaction of the RA Supreme Judicial Council [(SJC)].

The problem is that the government has targeted the judges for not delivering their desired verdicts, whereas the SJC does not react in any way in the case when one of the functions of this structure is to keep the judges away from any intervention, including from public pressure.

This requirement is not being met at the moment, as the SJC scholars-members do not oppose the government they elected; they consider it normal when the political power gives instructions to the judges in most various ways. And it turns out that the judges are left alone on the road to their independence.

Moreover, according to the news reaching Zhoghovurd daily, the General Assembly of Judges will be held on March 26, where the judges will voice the SJC scholars-members serving in the political power, noting that they will not allow the exerting of any pressure on them from any side.

Thus, a new storm in the judiciary [of Armenia] is inevitable.
