YEREVAN. – Five of the drivers protesting—at Republic Square in Yerevan—against the forthcoming increase in car insurance fees have been taken to the police station, the reported the press service of the Police of Armenia.

"A report has been drawn up for the act under Article 182 (failure to comply with the lawful request of the servicemen of the police forces or police officers) of the Code of Administrative Offenses," the police added.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, a group of drivers staged a protest at Republic Square Monday against the upcoming rise in auto insurance premiums in Armenia. They drove around the square while honking the horns of their vehicles. But the police stopped them, apprehended some of these drivers, and had their vehicles towed away.

The aforesaid increase in car insurance fees will take effect in Armenia as of February 7.
