In January-June 2011, there were 1,823 detainees (95 women) in Armenia, and 47 of them were minors (1 girl), Armenian National Statistical Service informs, based on the summary report by the Armenian Judicial Department.
In comparison with the same period in 2010, the number of prisoners has dropped by nearly 100, and this is owing to the amnesty declared in May 2011. As of July 1, cases against 370 people have been dismissed.
In the first six months of 2010, there were 1,926 detainees (86 women) in Armenia, and 94 of them were minors (7 girls).
