The Armenian Foreign Ministry summarized the results of the visits and meetings of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan last week.
On December 11-12, the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Brussels and participated in the meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers in a special format for a detailed discussion of RA-EU perspectives and regional issues.
The ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership was also held, during which the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the ideas of RA regarding this format. Notably, on December 14 Minister Mirzoyan congratulated Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova on the decisions adopted by the European Council.
During his working visit to Brussels, Minister Mirzoyan held more than ten meetings with his counterparts, including the Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, France, Ukraine, Slovakia and Luxembourg.
As the Estonian Foreign Minister noted during the joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister on December 13, it is symbolic that "we arrived in Yerevan on the same plane" for the working visit of the Estonian Foreign Minister: after a long pause, an important visit at the level of a foreign political leader took place.
During the joint press conference, positions on Armenia-Estonia cooperation, RA-EU partnership, regional developments, support for democracy, as well as Estonia's initiation of the process of recognizing the Armenian Genocide were discussed.
The next day, on December 14, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia held a ministerial meeting of the landlocked developing countries in Armenia.
The latter was one of the largest events ever organized in Armenia in cooperation with the United Nations. The event was attended by more than 30 foreign delegations, including representatives of landlocked developing and transit countries, the region and Armenia's neighboring countries.
On December 14, a joint statement was signed on the establishment of diplomatic relations with Botswana: in the last two months, this is the second country after Saudi Arabia with which Armenia has established diplomatic relations.
