YEREVAN. – Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan received Catherine Ashton, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who arrived in Armenia on a regional visit. “Our relations with the European Union have entered a new development phase, in the recent period. As a result, we have given a new impetus to our reforms,” Sargsyan said, welcoming the guest, Government Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.    

In her turn, Catherine Ashton expressed a satisfaction with the development course of Armenia-EU relations, adding she is well aware of the activities that Armenia is carrying out. Noting that they are impressed by Armenia’s progress, Ashton stressed that all the prerequisites exist for further deepening and strengthening Armenia-EU relations. “We are prepared to help Armenia secure economic progress, to which the signing of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement could substantially contribute,” Ashton stated.

Afterward, Tigran Sargsyan introduced to Catherine Ashton the Armenian government’s priorities and ongoing activities. 

The interlocutors also reflected on regional and other matters.
