The process of Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union (EU) is gaining momentum, but the country has not yet submitted an official application for membership, Izvestia was informed by the European Commission of the EU.

The ongoing discussions in Armenia demonstrate the appeal of the European Union and its values. EU-Armenia relations have never been closer than now. The launch of a dialogue on visa liberalization and the provision of 10 million euros in support under the European Peace Facility have demonstrated this, the European Commission noted.

Also, Brussels pledged to discuss with Armenian partners the draft law on European integration.

Despite the fact that legally the matter of Armenia’s EU membership is not yet on the agenda, the country is already moving towards a deeper partnership with this union.
