“The Pope slept well during the night and is now resting,” the Vatican said in a brief statement.

After breakfast, the Holy Father continued his treatment by sitting in an armchair.

On Wednesday evening, the press office said the Pope's health had improved slightly in the past 24 hours.

“The mild renal failure observed in recent days has diminished,” the statement said. - A chest CT scan performed (Tuesday) evening showed normal progression of lung inflammation. Blood tests performed (Wednesday) confirmed the improvement seen (Tuesday).”

The pope remains on high-flow oxygen therapy, but as of Wednesday evening he had not had any asthma-like respiratory crises.

According to a statement, the Holy See press office said the prognosis regarding his condition remains “cautious.”

The Pope was admitted to Rome's Gemelli Hospital on Friday, February 14, after an attack of bronchitis and doctors later diagnosed bilateral pneumonia.
