YEREVAN. – In comparison with the same time period last year, Armenia’s vodka and vodka-liquor production reduced by 20.3 percent in January-November 2011, the National Statistical Service informed. According to the Service, 7.28 million liters of vodka were produced in the country this year, against the 9.1 liters of the year past.      

Unlike vodka, however, other types of alcoholic beverages were produced more this year in Armenia.

In line with the World Health Organization’s report, which was publicized in early 2011, each Armenian consumes 11.4 liters of pure alcohol per year. The world’s average is 6.1 liters, and Moldova is in first place with 18.2 liters.     

More beer, wine, and brandy are used in Armenia, in the recent years, whereas vodka consumption is reducing primarily because of the lack of production in high-quality vodka.
