The Israeli government has approved a plan to capture Gaza and hold the territories, which involves moving the local population south of this Palestinian enclave—and simultaneously with the expansion of the military operation. The respective initiative was unanimously supported by the cabinet of ministers of the Jewish state on Monday morning, reports AP.

And a few hours ago, the commanders of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the call-up of tens of thousands of reservists to expand and strengthen the operation in the enclave, according to Euronews.

After the ceasefire was broken, the IDF resumed its offensive and took control of about 50% of the enclave.

According to anonymous officials, the new plan is designed to help Israel achieve its military goals of defeating Hamas and releasing hostages in Gaza.

It calls for massive attacks on Hamas infrastructure and command centers, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to the south of the enclave.

But this is likely to worsen an already dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
