During a routine medical examination, a small nodule was found in the prostate gland of former President Joe Biden, Reuters reports, citing the press service of the former US president.

The brief statement said that the finding “requires further examination.” When nodules are found in the prostate gland, further examination by a urologist is usually required to rule out prostate cancer. Such abnormal masses can be caused by cancer or less serious conditions, including inflammation or enlargement of the prostate gland. 

Biden is 82 years old. Democratic Party leaders have cited his age and health concerns that led him to drop out of his 2024 re-election bid after a failed debate performance last June.

But most recently, last week, Biden dismissed concerns about his age, saying the party wasn't buying it, and instead blamed the Democratic Party leadership and “significant donors.”
