Armenia and the European Union (EU) have made significant achievements and adopted a new strategic agenda, which is already being implemented. Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, noted this in his remarks at a security forum Wednesday.

According to the ambassador, the negotiations on the strategic agenda required a lot of work, but most importantly, it is already in the practical phase. They already have several elements that are being implemented, he noted, and highlighted, in particular, the dialogue on EU visa liberalization for Armenian citizens.

Maragos noted that the visa liberalization process will have very concrete and tangible results for Armenian citizens.

They already presented the visa liberalization action plan in November, in December they already organized the first assessment mission so that they can submit the first progress report as soon as possible in 2026. The migration service, the parliament, and all other involved institutions are working to implement the action plan, said the EU ambassador to Armenia.

He emphasized that as a result of the discussions and the information presented, the EU welcomes the approach of the Armenian government, considering the visa liberalization action plan as a comprehensive reform program.

According to the ambassador, the planned reforms are primarily aimed at the interests of Armenian citizens. As a result of these reforms, Armenian citizens themselves will benefit, and also the opportunities for their bilateral movement will open up, once the decision is made on visa-free travel to the European Union, added Maragos.
