The global situation has entered a phase of high instability and uncertainty, which is perhaps the most turbulent period in modern history, said Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The established world order is clearly changing. Creating new forms of order is difficult, and it seems that we are moving into a prolonged twilight zone, Jaishankar said at the inaugural Global Economic Cooperation 2026 forum in Mumbai, India.

The Indian foreign minister noted that the international system is undergoing profound changes, and the world is witnessing the militarization of production and finance, the strategic use of market access, and the tightening of export controls.

Jaishankar stated that in the current conditions, India is interacting more intensively with international partners from a position of strength. And this is demonstrated by the recently signed trade agreements, added the Indian foreign minister, referring to reports of his country's trade agreements with the EU and the US.
