Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that 415 Afghan soldiers were killed in clashes along the border.
According to Tarar, more than 580 Afghan military personnel were also wounded.
The Pakistani government representative further claimed that 182 Afghan checkpoints were destroyed, 31 checkpoints were captured, along with 185 tanks and armored vehicles.
He added that strikes were carried out on 46 targets inside Afghan territory.
Clashes between the two countries occurred after Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory over the weekend triggered retaliatory attacks by Afghan forces along the border on Thursday, leading to an escalation of long-simmering tensions over Pakistan’s claim that Afghanistan is harboring Pakistani Taliban militants. Afghanistan denies this.
