Armenian language feature film will for the first time be showcased at Los Angeles Film Festival (LAFF) in 2015, Los Angeles Daily News reports.

74 features, 60 shorts and over 50 new media works are planned to be showcased in the framework of LAFF, which will take place on June 10-18. 35 countries are represented in the program.

“Aram, Aram,” the festival’s first Armenian language feature is about an immigrant boy. It was shot in Glendale and Los Angeles district of Little Armenia by San Fernando Valley native Christopher Chambersm who does not speak Armenian.

“Our rule in casting was that all Armenian characters had to be played by Armenian actors,” said Chambers, noting that he became fascinated with the culture through Armenian friends whom he got to know while working on local indies. “This was because I wanted to make sure we had authentic performances and an authentic story,” he said.
