YEREVAN. – The ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival this year received an unprecedented number of 1,200 applications for participation, and 184 of them were selected to the competition round.

The animated films will compete in five categories.

ReAnimania Founder and Director Vrej Kassouny stated, at a press conference on Thursday, that aside from the competition films, non-competition films also will be screened at this event that will kick off on October 28, and there also will be documentary and experimental projects.

In addition, nine animated films, and devoted to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, will be shown within the framework of the Rebirth project.

In Kassouny’s words, for the first time this year, scholarships will be provided to young animators, and whereby they will be trained in France.

He added that thanks to ReAnimania, animated film production has developed in Armenia in recent years.

Also for the first time this year, the Cartoon Arts Festival likewise has joined the ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival. An exhibition of cartoon sketches, and on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, also will be held along the lines of this festival.

This year’s ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival will close on November 3.

The ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival was created in 2008, to promote the development of animation art, educate a new generation of international level animators, create an opportunity to introduce the Armenian animators’ works in the international arena, and introduce the world’s best animated works to the Armenian public.
