Special troops of the Turkish armed forces have entered Syria to carry out an operation against the militants of the Islamic State terrorist group, according to Milliyet daily of Turkey.

According to the newspaper, however, although these special forces have crossed the Turkish-Syrian border, they have not yet begun military operations.

Work is still underway toward creating a corridor for the other troops, reported TASS news agency of Russia.
