The Armenian National Movement (ANM) intends to intensify its ties with European agencies, with political prisoners being the priority in cooperation, ANC Board Chairman Aram Manukyan told journalists.

He pointed out four areas of cooperation. According to him, the ANM received a letter from Anne Brasseur, Chairperson of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) group in the CE Parliamentary Assembly. She stated her readiness to render assistance in releasing the political prisoners. Manukyan also said that in its letter the ALDE expresses its solidarity with the ANM over the issue.

Manukyan considers a cooperation agreement with the Musavat Party of Azerbaijan and the Republican Party of Georgia signed in Potsdam an unprecedented success. “The agreement has a point on the need for a peaceful settlement of regional conflicts and release of political prisoners,” He also pointed out the importance of the ANM’s participation in the liberal-democratic congress in Helsinki. The congress-adopted resolution points out the need for release of political prisoners.
