According one of the documents disclosed by WikiLeaks, U.S. demanded that Taiwan should sell Super Cobra AH-1W helicopters to Turkey for its struggle against Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
One of the documents will negatively affect the Taiwan-U.S. relations, Firat news agency reported. In response U.S. also promised to sell next-generation Apache helicopters to Taiwan.
Taiwan’s Defense Minister has refuted the reports stressing that even if U.S. demanded it they would refuse, as the country needs helicopters to ensure security of its borders.
