The former minister of the National Guard of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mitab bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, was released for more than $1 billion after three weeks in custody on suspicion of corruption crimes. This was stated by one of the officials in Saudi Arabia reports Newsru.com with reference to the agency Reuters.

According to the source, the 65-year-old prince, who is one of 34 children of King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud who died in 2015, was considered one of the main contenders for the crown, three more people were released after reaching an acceptable agreements with the government.

Earlier it was reported that with the decision of the local authorities, charges of embezzlement, fraud in employment and awarding contracts to own companies were dropped from Mitab bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

The son of the Saudi King was considered the leading contender for the throne. Until recently, he headed the elite parts of the National Guard, but on November 4, by the decree of the monarch, he was sent into retirement.
