Arab foreign ministers are discussing a response to Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as a capital of Israel.

The foreign ministers of the Arab League gathered for an emergency meeting in Cairo at the initiative of the Palestinian delegation.

Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, the league chief, said the response could be a pan-Arab effort aimed at international recognition of the state of Palestine, RIA Novosti reported.

“We urge all peace-loving countries to reject the US decision and support the Palestinian state, to confirm the recognition of East Jerusalem as its capital,” the Secretary General of the Arab League said.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, pointed out that Trump's decision would have the most serious consequences for politics and security.

He also expressed fears that extremists, including the Islamic State, could use this decision to justify their actions.
