The Turkish Armed Forces press department has issued a statement on the first victim during the operation in Syria’s Afrin, Cumhuriyet reported.
The Turkish military said in a statement that a senior sergeant Mousa Özalkan was killed in a clash with Kurdish forces on January 22.
According to the source, Musa Özalkan was married two years ago and had a 5-month-old daughter.
Ankara started Olive Branch operation in Syria on Saturday. It is conducted mainly against the Kurds of Afrin, as Turkey accuses them of shelling their territory. Damascus strongly condemned the Turkish aggression.
