YEREVAN. – If I am elected President of the Republic of Armenia, I will use all my zeal, long years of experience, and devotion to resolving the national matters of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh], and the [Armenian] diaspora.

Candidate for the fourth President of Armenia, Ambassador to UK Armen Sarkissian, on Thursday stated the abovementioned in his address at the National Assembly (NA).

“I will be someone who will perform the duties of not just the President of the Republic of Armenia, but also who will perform the highest duty of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia: being the citizen of this country, first of all,” Sarkissian noted, in particular. “I will endeavor to be the President of not just this parliament, but of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

“Also, I will endeavor to in some sense be and represent the interests of the Armenians of Artsakh as well as to be a president that bears their moral support, as well as to be the President of the entire Diaspora Armenians, with an objective of realizing the [Armenian] national unity and again making our country a nation that has one nation, one people, one future. A small country, a global nation.”

Debates on the matter of the election of the fourth President of Armenia have kicked off Thursday in the NA.

And the respective voting is slated for Friday.
