Not having own historical and culture monuments Turkey is engaged in cultural “cannibalism” (assumption of cultural heritage-edit.), Turkish expert says.

Talking to the journalists Anush Hovhannisyan, expert of the Turkish studies, said there is a certain database of the Armenian spiritual monuments. The Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople instructed by Turkish internal affairs department made a list of all spiritual monuments belonging to the Armenian Apostolic church and located in Turkey’s territory back in 1913. However, no information is available about the Armenian buildings that are of architectural value.

She noted that lack of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey impedes preservation of the Armenian architecture monuments. “We can not control everything that happens in Turkey nowadays, we can only submit applications to the international organizations such as UNESCO,” the expert concluded.
