The actual reason for clashes between the Republican Party of Armenia and the Prosperous Armenia Party is a politico-economic one, the expert Andranik Tevanyan told Armenian news-NEWS.am.

The current economic policy of enabling one oligarch to lay his hands on the entire economy causued opposition on the part of not only small and medium businesses, but also big businessmen, including Gagik Tsarukyan. “The incumbent authorities’ economic policy gave rise to opposition within the ruling circles. The is no point is trying to find individuals behind the confrontation between the Republican Party and Prosperous Armenia Party. The authorities’ economic policy is the cause,” Tevanyan said.

The expert also forecasts domestic political escalation on the threshold of parliamentary elections. They will be decisive for the ruing regime’s revival. “It is obvious that the RPA and PAP will run for parliament independently,” Tevanyan said. He stressed that the ruling regime’s approaches are now similar in many aspects to the ones of the opposition Armenian National Congress.
