If the Convention on Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) is approved, the conditions will serve to prevent abuses of the Convention, the head of the Iranian Council on Foreign Relations, Kamal Kharazi told reporters.

His remark came on Saturday in a meeting with the President of the Austrian Institute for European Politics and Security and Former Austrian Defense Minister Werner Fasslabend, Mehr reported.

According to him, this may contribute to the normalization of Iran’s economic ties with the world.

The former FM said that Iran does not expect some dramatic changes that these mechanisms can bring to the country, adding that Iran must rely on itself and its resources.

Kharazi said that this EU mechanism can solve part of the economic tasks and support trade with the EU.

Asked to comment on Russian and Chinese cooperation, including the economic aspects of this cooperation, he noted that Iran is not seeking a policy of dependence on these countries.

There are a number of mutual political interests between Iran and the countries noted above to cooperate with each other, he added.
