YEREVAN. – A criminal case is opened into a serviceman being wounded Monday, at a military unit of the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia.
Sona Truzyan, Adviser to Chairman of the Investigative Committee, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that according to preliminary information, this soldier sustained a gunshot wound in the jaw, as a result of a shot from the weapon assigned to him, at the position of his combat duty.
“The [military] serviceman was immediately transferred to a [military] hospital,” Truzyan added. “Initially, a criminal case has been launched.
“At the same time, various working theories are developed, [and] each of which is being investigated.”
The said military serviceman, Andranik Hovhannisyan, 19, is in critical condition.
He has been brought to the MOD Central Clinical Military Hospital, in capital city Yerevan.
