The Armenian Foreign Ministry has commented on Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov statement that, after a long time, Armenia and Azerbaijan have been able to reach a certain mutual understanding on the Karabakh conflict, for the first time.

In Milan the ministers agreed to continue the meetings in the near future, maintaining the formed dynamics, spokesperson for Armenian MFA Anna Naghdalyan said.

Another agreement was reached regarding the joint statement by the FMs of Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the heads of delegations of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries.

The Economist magazine has called Armenia “country of the year".

“Our annual “country of the year” award goes not to the most influential nation, nor to the richest, nor to the one with the tastiest food (sorry, Japan). It celebrates progress,” the article reads.

The Congressional Armenian Caucus leadership has urged the U.S. State Department to elevate the U.S.-Armenia strategic dialogue through the U.S.-Armenia Task Force and an increased focus on short and mid-term economic deliverables.

Leaders of the Caucus sent a letter to Secretary of State Pompeo, noting that “now is the time to build off Armenia's democratic progress, taking our bilateral relations to the next level - in the political, economic, military, and cultural arenas”.

Divorces have sharply increased in Armenia in 2017, and the number of marriages dropped by 6.6 percent as compared to the previous year.

Also in 2017, the average age for men getting married in Armenia was 31.1, whereas that of women was 27.5, and the average age for first marriage was 29.9 and 26.6, respectively.

Customs officers at Sheremetyevo International Airport of Moscow have detained an Armenian citizen who had arrived in the Russian capital city on board a flight from Istanbul, Turkey.

The man had attempted to clear more than 3kg of jewelry from customs without paying customs duty, the Sheremetyevo customs press service informed.
