YEREVAN. – The arrest of Ara Vardanyan, former Executive director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, has been commuted today, and a bail has been set for him. Vardanyan's lawyer Lusine Sahakyan told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He will be released during the day.
On October 9, Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Executive director Ara Vardanyan was charged with embezzlement. The pretext for the indictment was that the products of one of the companies subject to the fund were not supplied to the addressees. According to a decision by the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Vardanyan was remanded into custody.
Ara Vardanyan did not plead guilty, claiming that he was being politically persecuted.
