President of Russia Vladimir Putin hopes the situation in Idlib won’t undermine Russian-Turkish relations, reports TASS.

During a meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Putin announced the need for personal talks in regard to escalation of the situation in Idlib and stated that the Syrian army didn’t know the whereabouts of the Turkish soldiers killed during the attack in Syria.

“At the outset of our meeting, I would like to express my sincere condolences. This is a great tragedy. Unfortunately, nobody, including the Syrian soldiers didn’t know the whereabouts of the Turkish soldiers. As you had requested, Russia is ready to hold a tete-a-tete conversation, and, if necessary, we will be joined by our colleagues,” Putin said.

In his turn, Erdogan voiced confidence that the results of the talks will mitigate the situation and added that the key objective is to enhance the relations between Moscow and Ankara.
