Closing the borders is a situation that damages our economy, almost all fields, the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan said in an interview with three TV channels, referring to the situation created in the country due to the coronavirus.

"We have a border with 4 countries, 2 of which are closed, we have one checkpoint with Iran, the other country is Georgia, where there is almost no coronavirus...Closing the borders is a situation that damages our economy, almost all sectors...This was the only case when our partial blockade could be an advantage for the country, it did not work. It has been a state of emergency in the country for 5 months, you compare the numbers with the countries that have not done anything, for example with Belarus, the situation is worse in our country than in Belarus. Now the question arises: where have the steps taken by our government brought us, why is our situation worse than in a country where nothing has been done at all, this is a question to which I have no answer," he said.

According to him, the assessment of the situation was wrong from the very beginning, almost no preparatory work was done at all, contradictory decisions, statements by officials.

“Govern properly so that 900 people do not die,” he added.
