Good news from Grenoble, the sister city of Sevan. Yesterday we learned that the proposal of the mayor of the French city of Grenoble, Eric Piolle, was unanimously accepted by the City Council. This was informed Tuesday by Sevan Municipality of Armenia.

"Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] is currently a place of worrying conflict. The situation of the civilian population there is very worrying. Grenoble, being connected with Armenia, is in the center of attention of the local residents. Today, the people of Grenoble look to this region where Armenians are fighting for their existence.

Faced with this difficult situation, the city of Grenoble wants to express its solidarity with the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, all the casualties and families of this conflict.

105 years after the Armenian Genocide, this conflict, whose first casualties are the civilian population, must end.

We are convinced that the resumption of a peaceful dialogue is the only solution to allow a lasting ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.

That is why the Grenoble City Council submits the following to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

1. Strengthening of all diplomatic efforts already made to find a peaceful solution to the conflict affecting Nagorno-Karabakh and to allow an immediate ceasefire.

2. Establishment of an emergency fund for the population of Nagorno Karabakh, which [the fund] can also be supplemented by the communities—aside from the medical assistance announced on October 22,   the President of the Republic,” the statement also reads.
